The regular March meeting took place at Mangia's Pizza on Mesa Drive on Monday, March 5, 2007. VC president John Bartle called the meeting to order at approximately 7 PM. Highlights of the meeting included a brief recap of VC members' participation in various recent races and the distribution of new team clothing by VC past president David Wolfe.

VCThe May Club Meeting

Mayday, Mayday!

The Awfficial minutes of the VCSA

by Greg Hall

President 'Wolfman' Dave reported that there are plans afoot for VC to put in a bid to host the next state cyclocross race. The location has yet to be finalized but talk of an in-town course were applauded.

Race reports and results were delivered by several attendees which included Cold Sores road race, HummerFest stage race, Holy Mackeral Criterium, Friday Night Crack, Snake Criterium and Time Trail Championships. Congratulations to all those that particpated. Don't forget to put in for your rider reimbursement while there is funding available.

A new clothing order was placed to replenish the jersey stocks. Contact El Prez is you are in need of some club threads. Don't wait until nex winter to pick up a keen set of arm warmers.

Returning VC member Owen Dewing brought in a prime example of a vintage 1985 Jamlaine 'Sausage Wrap' jersey for display and disgust. He is searching for anyone that has a large 2002/2003 jersey they want to get rid of. Bring it to the next meeting.

The $8 price for dinner was reduced to $6 which leaves the extra $2 to chip in for Bill's next pitcher of beer. Hooray beer.

And now, an ENCOURE edition of the Official Minutes of the VCSA from the May, 1996 Violet Crown News:

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds

The Officious minutes of the VCSA

By Frank Kurzawa

Well, I never made the time to check out the Timothy Leary internet web page and now he’s dead. On the other hand, as far as I know Ol’ Leary never got around to checking out bike racing either. It sure makes me feel old to see a man who did a lot to shape my generation die of old age. And now I’m at an age where the most preferred method to induce hallucinations is to go anaerobic for extended periods in criteriums.

Speaking of which, our May membership meeting moved at such a fast pace that many of us went anaerobic just trying to keep up with it. So if any of this description seems hallucinatory, I’m sure that must be the reason why.

Just when you thought our Rosedale ride was really over for the year, we had one last order of business to clear up. Prime movers Kenny L., Richard W., Al Godfrey, and Renee Prtizger took center stage. Kenny waxed poetic for an iterminable time about how we had 237 official riders and raised a whopping $3500 for the school (three and a half times what we raised last year). He then rolled out a wheel barrow with seventy thousand buffalo nickels and poured it over Steve Hammond (assistance Principal) and Gloria Simonson (Principal). Steve and Gloria rolled around in the money on the floor and generally made big fools of themselves. But hey, I would have done the same thing if someone poured all those nickels over my head.

As usual, Amblin’ Jack pointed out that the Thursday Niters are still happening with way big crowds and people going faster than humanly possible, faster even than Lance without the mountains. I can always count on Jack for a good quote that I don’t even have to make up. Maybe the rest of you people who stand up at the meetings and give dull, boring speeches can take a lesson from him. Or is it just more fun to find out what you said when you get your newsletter?

According to our spiritual leader, His Chainstayness, Pope Orr, our shorts are now in so you no longer have to race in your dirty underwear. If you prepaid for yours, you can pick them up. We also have some spare mediums for sale. Unfortunately, they don’t have the way cool thick chamois, just the cheesy type of chamois like we get in our skin suits; but at least it doesn’t show skid marks.

Just in case you’ve had your head stuck in your bottom bracket all season. Our very own dear, sweet, never-hurt-a-flea Collette “Sonic Boom” Haney has been wiping the competition up off the floor with dirty skinsuits and worn out sew-ups. She and Tony went off to Natchez and Collette promptly got 4th overall while Tony snagged 13th. Nothing like a good result to color one’s view of an event. Collette thought it was the best-organized thing this side of the Tour DuPont. And the promoters even cleaned up all the blood stains from Mike Haney’s experience at Natchez last year. Ask Mike or Richard for an alternative view of the 9 hour drive (each frickin’ way) to/from Natchez. Oh year, Collette has also revived a handsome suitable-for-framing invitation to the Tour de Toona. And she had some great results at Rubicon.

So with that, the meeting was adjourned and the assembled crowd broke up into small groups to roll around in left over nickels and discuss Lance’s raging Tour DuPont and his new Nike shoe deal.

And now, an ENCOURE edition of the Violet Crown Meeting Minutes from the July 8, 1986 meeting: Jay Bond opened the meeting by commending the riders who finished the State Championships, Senior 35+: Tom Paterson (2nd place), John Dietz, Jack Pritchard and Bill Hart. Women: Cynthia Delgado (10th place). Senior Men: Bill Riffe (11th place), Kevin Yates, Jon Etheredge, Brandon Zastrow and Jim Keene. Jay also thanked those who helped support the riders: Mike Broderick, Phil Tomlin, Rick Blincoe, Steve Borthwick and Sean Blashill.

VCThe April 2006 Club Meeting

President Wolf reported that a new shipment of jerseys had been ordered. There's still a goodly amount of team clothing available so contact El Prez. The Rider Reimbursement program has been funded for 2006. Go to an event and pay the registration fee, wear a current team jersey, fill out the form, turn in the form, get $10 per event back. Simple enough. The Thursday Night crit series starts up April 13. Membership decided not to include weekly crit series as part of the rider reimbursement. War stories included John Bartle getting first place at Lago Vista Day 2 55+. Zaza took first place at LV Day 1 45+ with Schreff getting third both days. The membership voted to approve donating $250 to the Alkek Velodrome as a show of support for their programs. Financial analysis of the club coffers concluded that the price of meeting the pizza/salad/drink dinner could be returned to $6 which in fact it was.

Former VCer Kristin House wanted me to pass along "Hope things are going well, tell everyone at the meeting that i said hello! Go VC!" Kristian recently won the British Premier Calendar race 37th Girvan 3 Day (http://tinyurl.com/qdfp3)

VCThe March 2006 Club Meeting

No real official business between the time El Presidente David called the meeting to order and the motion to adjourn. Unofficial business was mainly war stories of Walbuuuurg, Peace Bend, Belterror and Gesture. Andy 'Hillbilly' Austin related how he rode a borrowed bike to glory and a first place. Also in attendance were Coach Karthauser and his wife's pet Canadian Phil Cortes. Phils attendance brought the average age of the room down to 50.5. Coach regaled us with Euro trip'n bachelor party stories he and buddy Ricky recently experienced. The details got fairly fuzzy right about the time they stopped in Amsterdam. Suffice it to say much beer drinking, not enough bike riding and plenty of pro peloton watching ensued.

VCThe February 2006 Club Meeting

We’re already a month into the new year and just a reminder that everyone needs to fork over their annual club dues. Fill out the form and send in the cash.

The 2006 Rider Reimbursement program has been funded once again. Fill out the form then submit it at the monthly meeting.

There is still clothing available from David Wolfe so contact him if you need any.

Web page updates will be handled by sending in any postings to a club officer for publication. Tom Linehan agreed to stay on as a surrogate weberator for taking care of club photos.

The cyclocross season has ended and VC cleaned up in the Div I masters category with David Wolfe 1st, Chris Thibodeau 3rd and Jay bond 7th in the 45+, John Bartle won the 55+ and was the highest scoring overall individual in Div I. Jay Bond took 2nd and Chris Thibodeau 3rd in the Div II 45+. Consequently the team overwhelmingly took the 45+ and 55+ Div I team prizes. Thanks to the efforts of the cyclocrossers VC is currently 4th in the Div I and II overall club standings for the year.

Other race results include Frank Kurzawa 9th and Greg Hall 12th in the 35+ Copperas Cove road race.

Our club track day was canceled due to construction being done at Alkek velodrome. Rescheduling may be an option but not likely.

Rob Andrews is now officially a race official. He joins a long list of past and present VC officials that includes (I know I forgot someone so please add your comments):

Bill Baker

Jackie Phalon

Linda Craig

Karen Hall

Brandy Zastrow

Susan Lesser

John and Susan Bravenac

Sean McNeal

VCThe January Club Meeting

New Administration Puts a Door Prize in Everyone's Hand.

Un-used race prizes and extra club paraphernalia were given away at the usual Mangia-fest. New Prez, David Wolfe was either trying to curry favors for the new club administration, or was just cleaning out the back of his truck.

The Webberville cyclocross race was a success; 80 riders entered and it turned out to be one of the more popular courses. And the club turned a profit. Thanks again to all the club members who helped.

Masters have continued to be successful in the Round Rock and Houston CX events, but  scored no wins in the designated State Championships. Current TXBRA Division I standings in 45+ are David Wolfe1, Chris Thibodaux 4, Jay Bond 7 and John Miller 17. Jay is 3rd in Division II, David is 4th. Chris 7th. John Bartle is 1st. in the 55+.

Comming up:

Copperas Cove mass start race Jan 21. (54 miles)

Llano dirt road ride Jan. 29. Call John 443 1645 for details.

VC Track Day in Feb. or March.

USCF Official Training Feb. 3/4.( VC pays club member's official licence fee.)

AND THE NEW OFFICERS ARE:

President David Wolfe, President Elect John Bartle, Secretary Greg Hall, Treasurer Greg LaKomski, and Weberator Dave Henderson (should he decide to accept this mission)

VCDecember Meeting

A group of mostly non-mustachioed VC members met Monday to drink, eat, talk AND prepare for the next year of races.
Prez Za za was ill and could not attend so Pres. Elect David Wolfe took over duties one month early and promptly postponed elections until more of a quorum was present. In order to speed his recovery and oblige him to attend next month's meeting, Za za was nominated for Pres. Elect.

The Annual Club Awards were presented at the Christmas party; and the winners are (not necessarily in order of importance):

Best Dressed: John Schreffler - has this man not won this award before?!
Best Beef: David Orr - with extra points for style, but closely contested by Slim.
Rider of the Year: John Bandy - 5 firsts and 5 seconds in 16 starts for the season!

The 'cross season continues, David Wolfe and John Bartle continue (6 races) winning streaks in their respective Masters categories. Chris Thibodeau has raced very strongly until injured. We wish him the best of luck at Nationals in Providence R.I. this weekend. Jay Bond has also put in some stalwart performances.

Having dispensed with business and news, general discussion proceeded.

VCSeptember 2005 Meeting

The meeting and photo shoot were held at the new Gracy Farms Mangia.

The Team Photograph with all in the Jullian Design Jerseys was accomplished in the fading evening light thanks to the efforts of Richard Whittington. Everyone behaved well. We then went inside for pizza and race stories.

James Karthauser, Directeur Technique Par Excellence, told of his 8th. visit to the (37th.) Tour de L'Abitibi. He took 6 Texas Juniors to this international event of 160 riders. He brought souveniers and memorabellia to the club meeting and accounts of fast racing, hard tactics and riding out of the earth from the only Junior World Cup Event this side of the Atlantic. Unfortuneately, a crash took out half of Team Texas with 2 days to go out of the 6 day/8 stage race. Best placing from Texas was Marcus Torres, 8th. in KOM and Kart who was elected the Best Team Director (and esspresso barista).

It's late in the season but VC racing is still going strong with a good showing at Chappell Hill. All 10 team members finished in the 45+ pack, including Linehan 3rd. and Schreffler 6th.

Hotter Than Hell - Schreff and G.Hall place in the top ten.

Friday night racing at Alkek for Schreffler, Hall, LaKomski and Bond.

Columbus Stage Race - won by John Bandy with help from Haney and Hargrove. Bandy secured a 4 1/2 minute victory  and has placed 3rd. overall in TXBRA, 55+ for 2005!

AND COMING UP: a Helotes road race Sept. 24, the "skills -based" State Championships Oct.8, Ride for the Roses, Gruene TTT, and the first cyclocross race of the new season Oct 29 at Rocky Hill. The VC 'cross race at Moya Park is scheduled Dec. 17 (practice at Moya is Thursdays at 6 pm.)

VCMarch Minutes

Secrets of Lydia, Finding a Good Plumber and How to Come in First.

When the club clothing comes in, the club members get to the meeting.

We had a great turn-out at the March meeting for the distribution of new duds (excepting socks & gloves). Kudos to Julian H for the design, and thanks to his perseverance and due to  the work of the other officers, the jerseys were here for the first race - along with the team-issued helmets. (32 have been disbursed and they are still available for $62 per head!)

There is one deficiency still hanging, in the vest zipper - it is one shuttle short. The (gorgeous) vests shipped have the standard zip-up-close, zip-down-open action, but the supplementalshuttlezipper has a zip-up-close, second-zip-up-open, zip-down-close, zip-down-open action. If this feature is important to you please contact violet crown to get in on the return shipping to get this corrected. Vests now in stock will have the second shuttle added.

There was concensus on release of member's addresses to sponsors for their use, provided that the info was not further distributed. Be prepared to receive a mailer from our newest sponsor, Henderson Plumbing. Members should also know they can get a discount at 360 Cycleworks and ABC Kitchen Supply by declairing membership. So be sure to provide the club with your Membership Agreement (and your dues).

Race Results. John Bandy had what was called "a good weekend" winning both Walburg and Pace Bend (55+), aided by Val H who created "an opportunity" and also placed 8th.in 45+ at Walburg. H aney took 10th. at Pace Bend.

At the Jester Hillclimb, Donna LaKomski placed 5th. overall, women, and 2nd in her age group. Ron Burzese took 6th. and first in the tandem!

The meeting finished with an invitation to ride and dine in Italy - see Italy in May. The mystery of Lydia was also revealed.

2005yellowjmh_1
We've finally got the details worked out for our 2005 clothing. Now it's your turn. Just download the handy PDF file below, print it out, and send it in with your hard-earned scratch.
We've got a pretty wide selection this year: 2 short sleeve jersey styles, long sleeve jerseys, jackets, vests, regular shorts, big shorts, skinsuits, armwarmers, and socks.
If you're not sure about sizing, just try on your 2004 VC clothing. Sizing is the same this year. If you can't do that, then come to the December meeting. We'll have a full sizing kit there.
Be sure and return the form by the time of the meeting (Monday, December 6th). That's the deadline for ordering. We'll probably have a few extras of the most popular items, but they will go fast so if you want clothing you need to pre-order it.

VCMinutes of the Sept. Meeting

From Ken Rice:

Okay, after 2 years of exile from club activities, I was finally allowed to attend a meeting provided I a) didn’t make fun of Greg and b) didn’t eat all the pizza. I was also given an honorary Returning Secretary jersey and pair of gloves. I was a little shocked by the $100 membership dues though. I guess race reimbursement has to come from somewhere. Greg offered to let me write up my best recollection of what happened during the meeting, just as I did when I was officially the Secretary. I wasn’t aware of this opportunity until the meeting was over, so I didn’t actually take notes. Therefore, in the tradition of some of my finest meeting minutes, here’s what I remember:

7:00ish Greg Hall (when did he become President? Something’s fishy…) calls the meeting to order. In the spirit of the political season, Greg introduces our candidate for political office (USCF Mid-level Muckety Muck) James Karthauser. Wanting to fully utilize his limited time in front of our group, James focuses on the two primary strategies of a successful campaign: slandering his opponent and offering bribes. Not knowing who his opponent actually is or whether there was an opponent at all, James insists that his road rash scars are actually a result of racing and not some drunken pub crawl spill. (My apologies to David Orr, but seriously David… AA or training wheels. But I digress…). Somebody asks if James’ three State Championship medals were deserved and James responds “Yeah, well my opponent didn’t even GO to the races, he sat them out on some TRAINING ride.” It was starting to get ugly so Greg asked him to move on to the bribe portion of the show.

7:10ish Karthauser announces to the club that he has bought, er, I mean BROUGHT a custom frame builder from Hewitt, Texas to offer the club members some SPECIAL offers (wink, wink). Okay, first off, I used to live in Hewitt. Hewitt is a suburb of Waco. Saying you’re from Hewitt is like bragging “Hell, I ain’t from Midland, I’m from Odessa”. (My apologies to the denizens of the west Texas area.) However, frame builder Walker does have a couple of very nice looking bikes that are to be given away as door prizes. I guess that’s a good reason to attend the meetings if you weren’t there. He’s also offering large discounts to club members and donations to Kart’s campaign fund.

7:30ish One of the juniors is forced to stand in front of the enormous crowd (I lost count after 10 ‘cause I was wearing my shoes) and admit that he not only has a friend but that he brought him along. The friend is a mountain biker and therefore has much better socialization skills than most of those present at the meeting. I was a bit surprised that the junior program now consists of 27 year olds. In some ways that’s a refreshing change from the 15 year old Cat 1’s that used to humiliate me.

7:35ish Frank Kurzawa mentions that most foul and wicked word to all who have served as board members: jerseys. Ack, ptewy, yuck. That’s like drinking pickle juice and Gatorade combined. But, alas, like the seasons of the year, like time itself, like a seed sprouting forth from fertile soil, (like a mushroom popping up out of cow manure), the issue of new jerseys has come forth. It is decided by all present that to be fair to our sponsors, they must first exist. The question is raised about how much it will cost the club to buy sponsors for the jersey. I remind everyone that we had Gage for about 3 years for free so it shouldn’t cost that much. Heck, Mangia even gives us stuff. Kart suggests the use of his image and the words ‘Vote for Kart’ as a jersey design theme. I think they should put me on there so I can attend some more meetings.

7:45ish Donna Lakomski awards door prizes by drawing names out of a hat. The $100 prize that Karthauser wins is pretty impressive. Donna insists that it’s normal accounting practice to hand my check directly to him. Hmm. Well, I did get the custom Walker bike so I can’t complain. Kart says he’ll deliver it to me soon.

7:50ish The meeting adjourns. Greg offers me the opportunity to return in 2 more years if I promise to write up the minutes for this one. I figure it’s the least I can do for the club. Otherwise I’ll have to actually start racing again.

VCApril's Meeting Notes

Meeting in progress

April's meeting started out with salad, pizza and beer with Kart supplying the pitchers. While everyone ate and drank, Greg handled clothing distribution. He pointed out the new clothing was field tested in last weekend's Coldsprings race and they worked. The bright colors made the VCers stand out. Applause went to Julian for the design. We welcomed 2 new members, Jorge Alvarado and Alex Tomlinson. Greg kicked off the meeting with a plug for the new website. He covered the rider reimbursement program.

VC members participating in a race can collect a $10 reimbursement. (Regardless of how it felt, participation in the Rosedale ride is not a reimburseable event). We will add the rider reimbursement form to the site for members to print out and complete. John Bartle, the promoter for the upcoming TT series, gave an update on progress of the series. It's looking like the series will kick off on Wedenesday, May 5th. More to come including a map to the TT location. John still has openings for volunteers and mentioned that helping out and participating is possible. We're anticipating strong interest in the series, particularly from those training for the Danskin triathalon. Greg reminded members about the upcoming crit series promoted by Hotel San Jose...starts Thursday. And finally, Greg went through results from recent races with a round of applause going to Kart for his victory in the Lago Vista race and 3rd place in the Fayetteville race. Kart talked about Kristian's recent visit to the U.S. and his participation in the Fayetteville event (set the TT course record) and track race in Houston.

VCJuly 2001 Meeting With The Past President Minutes

Our former Secretary, Ken Rice, made whoopee with our former President, Mike Beck, back in 2001. These are Ken's quasi-coherent remembrances of that visit, which he penned shortly afterwards.

As none of you may have noticed, I wasn't at the July meeting. Instead, I made a pilgrimage to Lakewood, Colorado to visit with the Past President, El Presidente. El is doing quite well in his new role as stay-at-home mom. (The breast-feeding thing is a little weird though. I guess that vacuum pump augmentation really works.)

We decided to go to the quaint little townlet of Golden to try out one of their famous malted beverages, and I ain't talkin Coors. At some point during our mass beverage consumption, it dawned on us that it was Monday. And 7:00 PM. Time for the meeting to commence.

7:00 El calls the meeting to order. The first item on the agenda was getting another pitcher of beer. The Secretary was tasked with this and accomplished it in a stellar manner.

7:05 El calls for new members to introduce themselves. Some petite chick El has been cycling with a lot lately was introduced as Fallon Beck. Shes very shy, as El had to speak for her. She also seemed to have trouble focusing on the meeting. The Secretary was starting to have trouble focusing also, attributable to excessive liquid in the malted beverage containers.

7:09 The Secretary motions for a vote on another pitcher of beer. The vote carries unanimously and Mrs. El decides its safer if she gets it. El and the Secretary concur.

7:12 El asks if theres any new business to discuss. A frenzied discussion ensues concerning who will get the remainder of the beer in the current pitcher. Mrs. El breaks the stalemate by returning to the table with a replacement.

7:16 The Seckertree doesn't want to take notes anymore. Somebody has to I guess. The chicks around here are gettin pretty cute. I wonder where they were earlier? HEY, YOU COME HERE OFTEN? CAN YOU TAKE DICTATION? What? It doesn't mean that? Huh,...oh yeah. The meeting. Where were we? Okay, I remember. El calls for a Treasurers report. The Seckerary checks and finds he has $20. A motion is made to invest the funds in a bladder growth fund. A pisher of beer mashikly appears.

7:22 A general consenuh, consensoo, uh, agreement is consensicated on to adjournicate. Mrs. El decides that WE AINT MEN ENOUGH TO DRIVE!! Oh yeah? Well, all Elron and the Seshetwee got to say is Thhhht. Did you hear that? Thhhht. Boy, that sounded funny!! Thhhht.

7:26 Its time for Fallon to start walkin on her own. The Secktie is takin a ride in the stroller. Elmo says the loud popping noise is normal when a macho, studley dude rides in the stroller. YEAH! I hope Mrs. Elmo didnt hear that. Shell make me walk to the car. WHEEE!

8:27 (AM) The Secretaries head hurts. El was feeding the child again. Wierd.

VCMarch Meeting Notes

Unfortunate Incident . John Bartle started off the meeting with a brief update on Jay Bonds. Jay fell and broke his femur while crossing the wet Emerald Forest railroad tracks, south of St. Elmo on Sunday. He's at Brackenridge (Rm 819), has a pin in his leg but doing better. (see Frank's Post).

VC Day at the Track Sunday, March 14, Alkek Velodrome, Houston. 2:00-5:00. Carpool to depart from Austin at 11:00 from intersection of Hwy 71 and Hwy 973. Cost $10. Contact Greg Hall, 836.4712 to reserve a track bike.

Spring time trial series race promoter wanted for mid-week event. We have a course, we have the desire to race. Need coordinator to take out permit and run the event. Contact Greg Hall.

Zilker Park Fall criterium is in the works. Still in the planning stages. Need energetic volunteer to assist Edward Tasch in getting this one off the ground.

New clothing on the way. Hopefully Louis Garneau will have it delivered the week of March 15 just in time for the Fayetteville Stage Race. Stay tuned for an announcement about where and when to pick up your new threads.

VCMinutes of the June 2001 meeting

by Ken Rice

Okay, it's really not my fault this time. Dave Henderson didn't send me enough annoying reminders, so I procrastinated longer than usual. I finally had to take responsibility for my own actions and write the minutes up on my own. I feel so mature and adult-like. I hope it passes. Anyway, here's what happened at the June Meeting of the Violet Crown Sports Association, as best I can recall:

7:07 Jonathan has apparently decided that 7:07 will be the official start time as this is the second month in a row it's happened. This follows the tradition of starting the DDDDR (Dave's something something something Ride) from Freewheeling on Sunday at some undisclosed period of time after the announced 8:00 start. I'm not complaining, as I'm a serial procrastinator. Jonathan, in an effort to further confuse the confused, starts the meeting at the wrong end of the room. I think this is because Jonathan thought that people couldn't tell that he wasn't actually a projection on the big screen TV.

7:08 Greg Hall waits until Jonathan has finished saying "Well, Let's get starte-oooph..." before he broadsides him off center stage. Greg seems excited about winning some little local race. Let's see if I can find where I wrote it down... oh, yeah, here it is. He's the State Criterium Champion. I think John Schreffler and David Orr helped by buying Guinness after the Tuesday night hill climbs.

7:12 Jonathan manages to distract Greg by hypnotizing him with his medal. (Actually, I think Greg hypnotized himself, but it still worked.) He announces that the Tuesday night crits are over, which is news to me. That explains why I did so well last week. I did think the field was kinda small.

7:13 Lee Rusk, looking blonder than usual (or ever), says we still have juniors. The little buggers are trying to grow up, but he's keeping them reigned in. (I'm a natural blonde, by the way. That's why I'm ditzy and can't find my way around the block without getting lost.)

7:14 Edward Tasch mentions the Luckenbach ride and gives directions. Once again, he's giving away free Trek 5900 bicycles to the first 30 people who show up. These were left over from the party at his house before the Ride For The Roses. Of course the Luckenbach ride was almost 2 weeks ago, so once again I hope some people made it to get those great door prizes. Edward really knows how to throw a party.

7:18 Jonathan brings up the issue of clothing. Some artwork was left off as evidenced by the .2 square inch area just under the left armpit which was left blank. I didn't realize until recently that this is the most valuable advertising area as it's visible in all the pictures when the winner streaks across the finish line with his arms thrust high in the air. Greg Hall's winning photos will only sell armpit hair, which is fine if we're getting sponsorship dollars for it. Sounds like Greg owes us some money. The club is also going to get a permit for Women's Development, which receives a standing ovation from the male members of the club.

7:24 Dave Henderson, frustrated by the fact that people keep running into him, decides to have a clinic to teach people how to only turn their bikes when they WANT to, and how to continue in a straight line otherwise. A lot of people nod at the novelty of this. I think it's going to be a big hit. (Pun)

7:26 Jonathan, again feeling self-conscious at having lost his copy of the membership directory, asks people who they are and what in God's name are they doing eating his pizza. Since I don't have my copy of the membership directory either, and I probably misspelled the names in my notes, I won't try to decipher what actually was said. (Who the heck is 'Slum' and what's his association with 'Greg Hurl'? My handwriting sucks.)

7:32 Jonathan, in a rare moment of generosity, offer the use of a Junior's house and television to watch the Tour De France. His parents are gonna be thrilled when we show up.

7:33 Greg Hall, now wearing his medal, and with tears streaming down his cheeks, again mentions his race win, and the fact that David Orr discovered that you don't have to actually win a prime, you can just steal wheels from someone in Houston. Racing can be profitable. I'm not sure if Greg was bragging about how easy it was to steal wheels from Houstonians, or was wondering if anyone knew how to get them back to the foreigner. (Ha! Yeah right.)

7:34 Missy Burk, now fully into her role as Treasurer and wanting to generate money any way she can, mentions finding venues for money generating criteriums. Greg mentions that more criteriums will mean more out of town racers, i.e. more wheels for David. (I think Greg was also fantasizing about winning a championship every week. He was looking a little glassy eyed by then.) Jonathan suddenly realized that Greg is still in a hypnotic state and told him to go lie down in the corner like a good dog. (It was a little embarrassing when he started licking himself.)

7:38 Teresa Ritter, who is now obligated to membership because her name's in print, says the Danskin needs help. Most people think she say's "Dan's kin need help", and since Dan Connelly's in California, didn't want to be bothered with his family. She also offers to help Missy generate insane amounts of money, David to get more wheels, and Greg to stop licking himself by looking for empty parking lots. We need more members like her.

7:39 Before Jonathan can regain control of the meeting, someone motions to adjourn, then everyone leaves like trees. (Makes like a tree and leaves? Whatever.)

Once again, I have fully and accurately documented the happenings and occurrences of the meeting as well as my notes and memory permit. I'm glad this isn't a real job .
