PRIZES: Trophies or ribbons will be awarded to the lowest time in each category and to the lowest total of three times in the series. Results will be posted on the Violet Crown website – www.violetcrown.org. Awards will be held at the last race session.

FEES: $10 per race per day or a one time series price of $30 for all six races. One race number will be issued for the entire series; a replacement number can be purchased for $2. For non-USA Cycling riders an annual license can be purchased for $60 or a one-day license for $5.

COURSE: The course is a 9-mile loop on fairly flat farm roads and contains three right turns. The course is open to traffic, so obey all traffic rules and regulations. Roughly half the course is paved asphalt and half is chip-and-seal.

REGISTRATION: Race day only registration opening at 5pm and closing 5 minutes prior to the start. Start order determined by order of registration. First rider off at 6:01 pm. Subsequent riders depart at 30 second intervals. Note that parking is limited so get there early or share a ride.

RACE RULES:  All racers must sign a 2007 “Standard Athlete’s Entry Blank and Release Form” and are required to wear an approved helmet while on a bike. Races will be held rain or shine. The series is being held under the rules and regulations of USA Cycling. Juniors must have a parent or guardian sign their release form in order to race.

VC3/07 VC Meeting Minutes (Corrected)

The regular March meeting took place at Mangia's Pizza on Mesa Drive on Monday, March 5, 2007. VC president John Bartle called the meeting to order at approximately 7 PM. Highlights of the meeting included a brief recap of VC members' participation in various recent races and the distribution of new team clothing by VC past president David Wolfe.

Event Recaps: John Bartle discussed his participation in the Rouge-Roubaix race, a 100-mile road race that started in Baton Rouge, LA. The event included long sections of unpaved roads and some very steep (18%) climbs. WALBURG CLASSIC: Frank Kurzawa was 38th in the Senior 3 race. Jay Bond mentioned his own experience, including the very windy conditions, in the Masters 45+ race. Richard Hall placed 2nd in the Masters 55+ race, and Kim Wrinkle also took part. PACE BEND: John Schreffler won the field sprint for 12th place in the Master 45+ event at Pace Bend.  PRIMAVERA I & II: Frank Kurzawa placed 17th in the Saturday Masters 35+ event and 21st in the same category on Sunday. LAGO VISTA: Donna Lakomski placed 13th of approximately 40 starters in the Womens' A race. John Schreffler won the field sprint for 7th place in the Masters 45+ event. DIRT DERBY: Jay Bond and John Bartle also discussed their participation in the Tuesday Night "Dirt Derby" mountain bike and cyclocross races at the Austin-Del Valle Motocross Track.

Upcoming Events: The Kenny Hill Autowerks Criterium Series at the Driveway (a go-cart track located East of Austin near the interesection of Highway 183 and Bolm Road) begins on the first Thursday after Daylight Savings Time goes into effect and continues for the next 32 weeks. The first race gets underway at 5:45 PM; the entry fee is $10.

VCMAY MEETING AT MANGIA ON MONDAY

The monthly club meeting will be held at 6:30 pm at Mangia Pizza on Mesa at Spicewood.
The usual $6.00 pizza contribution for those who want to eat. Drinks are your own.
